About Hooky

I made the rot robe because I needed it. Not "needed" like a nice-to-have - needed like, I was so burnt out I didn't know what my own body felt like when it wasn't bracing for the next thing.

I don't distinctively remember deciding to start Hooky. I remember standing in my kitchen at 11pm in a robe that was too thin, too small, and honestly kind of sad, thinking: this isn't it. this isn't what rest is supposed to feel like.

So I made the robe I actually wanted. Something heavy enough to feel like a hug. Big enough to disappear into. Soft enough that putting it on felt like permission - not to do more, but to stop.

Turns out I wasn't the only one who needed that.

Hooky isn't about "self-care" the way it gets sold to us. The bubble baths, the 10-step routines, the pressure to heal on a schedule. It's smaller than that, and bigger than that. It's cereal for dinner. It's ignoring your phone for an hour. It's rotting on the couch without apologizing for it.

If you're the person who's always fine, always on, always holding it together for everyone else, this one's for you. Not because you need fixing. Because you don't need permission... but if you want it, consider this it.

Come play hooky with us. 😈
